Effect of heat inactivation on CT value of realtime RT-PCR technique for SARS-CoV-2 detection

SARS-CoV-2 was the cause of global COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. The cycle threshold (CT) value real-time RT-PCR technique is gold standard infections diagnosis, risk assessment, discharged criteria, and patient isolation for SARS-CoV-2. Heat inactivation a simple, economical solution safety testing change CT values after heat has not been thoroughly evaluated. This study evaluated effect on realtime detection. Four groups samples consisted one non-inactivated group, three that were inactivated at 65oC/30min, 80oC/10min, 95oC/10min; each group included 16 tubes, from nasopharyngeal swabs confirmed to be infected with Groups then analysed by PCR technique. results show virus increased positive samples. higher temperature inactivation, increased.
